Maromba South heads north for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu State Championship

A contingent of Maromba South participants headed north today to compete in the State Championships, with our three white belts who went up competing in their first competition.  It was an awesome day, with many great matches, and many great submissions.  Congratulations to everyone who competed, and hopefully you all enjoyed yourselves, I know I did.  Well done to Bayden Mandich who took gold in his division, and Stefan Somerville who took silver in his.  Huan Wen Wong had an awesome day also in a hard fought division.  The white belts all did Maromba South proud today.  Ryan Mazengarb competed in his first comp as a blue belt, and had some great matches.  Neil Campbell and I faced off in the lighter weight blue belt division for the gold medal, and Neil, not for the first time took it out.  Kieryn Wright also won gold in his blue belt division.  In the open weight blue's Kieryn and Neil faced off in the gold medal match, with Neil securing a hard fought victory over a very difficult to beat Kieryn.  Neil also took out competitor of the day for his awesome performance.  Also, we had both Connor Hutchison and Madeline Campbell competing in the kids divisions and having an absolute ball doing so.  I am so proud of how far these kids have come :)  Well done today everyone.
